With a homemade costume modelled on Cassidy, a shrewd Destiny 2 player added a dash of Overwatch 2's resident cowboy to The Last City. Destiny 2 Hunter Guardian armour parts, especially a distinctive class item, were carefully chosen to bring the character to life in a whole new game.

Cassidy is one of the most well-known characters in the Overwatch franchise, having been a part of the playable roster since the 2016 release of the original game. Players continue to recognize Cassidy's legendary position despite numerous reworks of his abilities and a complete renaming from his launch identity. This is especially true of his cowboy-inspired combat style, which centres around the deadly Deadeye final move of the Overwatch 2 hero.

That was the case with Julicious, a player of Destiny 2, who submitted a custom costume inspired by Cassidy's Hunter attire, along with the label "12pm." The reference to Cassidy's final catchphrase—"it's high noon"—that he utters before unleashing his Deadeye was immediately recognized by gamers of Destiny 2.

The Last City Gets Overwatch Flair with the Destiny 2 Cole Cassidy Costume

The modified Cole Cassidy outfit from Destiny 2 replicated the character's default style by utilising numerous Hunter armour parts with a cowboy theme. The unique TM-Earp Custom Cloaked Stetson class item, which can be found in Destiny 2's Spire of the Watcher dungeon, is essential to the full ensemble. The TM-Earp is made up of two distinct parts, as opposed to other Hunter cloaks that usually have a hood: a broad-brimmed leather cowboy hat and a cape with a high collar and a shoulder pack bearing the Tex Mechanica logo. The Ablaze colour shader gives the headgear and cape an orange-red gleam.

The braytech Combat Vest chest component and the First Ascent Grips arm pieces, both tinted with the Pomegranate Gloss shader, are cleverly combined to replicate Cassidy's brass-plated chest armour, armoured left arm, and red poncho covering his left shoulder. The shader makes the fabric sections bright red and gives the Hunter's body a dazzling golden tinge. In the meantime, the shoulder pad and chest piece combine to form the silhouette of a single, complete cloth covering. The Competitive Spirit mask from the 2019 Guardian Games event completely covered the Guardian's face, and it was coloured in Gambit Suede. Since Cassidy's facial hair would be impossible to imitate and no Guardian player in Destiny 2 had a beard, the decision to hide the Guardian's face was not really significant.

When it came to precision and creative cowboy-themed design choices—such utilising Destiny 2's The Last Word Exotic hand cannon, which lets players fire rounds off like Cassidy using his Deadeye—other players applauded Julicious' outfit. In a similar vein, the outfit also uses the Lucky Pants exotic leg pieces, which are tinted with the Canis Coat shader on the Deep Pockets ornament. Additionally, Lucky Pants have a strong cowboy theme because their advantages greatly increase the power of hand cannons.
