A fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 has uploaded a video featuring Dutch's group, demonstrating how awesome a companion system may have been. Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 was a big hit, this feature may have added even more magic to the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a precursor to its predecessor even if it is a numerical successor. The story follows Butch Van der Linde and his group as they search for opportunities while travelling around the American Southwest. Arthur Morgan, Josiah Trelawney, Micah Bell, Simon Pearson, and other members of the Van der Linde gang—some of whom became fan favourites—are among them. The protagonist of the original game, John Marston, has some backstory that can be discovered by players. Although the story of the Red Dead Redemption 2 gangs was skillfully presented, with numerous branching plot points, a player has brought attention to the probable loss of a buddy system.
A fresh Red Dead Redemption 2 film featuring the Van der Linde gang riding their horses in formation was submitted by Reddit user Itchy-Engine6605. The other members of the gang ride on either side of Arthur, who rides in the center. Although the game features moments like these very frequently, the Reddit user notes that the experience would have been enhanced by a buddy system. Although the player can complete numerous side missions that provide background information and context for the various gang members, a companion system might have made it possible for them to get to know these people more thoroughly. Additionally, there's a lost chance for roleplaying activities that would have enhanced a player's sense of immersion in the Western backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rich companion systems in games like Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 help to further develop certain characters in each game. Depending on how a conversation unfolds, these partners frequently agree or disagree with the decisions made by the player and offer varying discourse. Red Dead Redemption 2's companion system might feature better dialogue scenes because each character has an own personality. There was a 2,000-page script for the game, even without the extra system. A bug that is started with the wagon at the camp can also be used by players to obtain a buddy, although these characters only follow them around.
It's improbable that Red Dead Redemption 2 will gain a buddy system in the future because the game rarely receives significant updates. A companion mod that offers an experience somewhat akin to Itchy-Engine6605's concept is included with the PC version of the game. Players can form alliances with characters such as Javier, John, Bill, and Hosea using this mod, but it's not as good as what Rockstar could have done with a companion system because it's not included in the standard game.
