A recent patch for Helldivers 2 resolved an issue with an armor perk, which enhanced the functionality of the Flamethrower stratagem in the game. Sony and Arrowhead Studios collaborated to create the cooperative shooter game Helldivers 2, which debuted in early February 2024. The game has become one of the most popular PlayStation titles of 2024 thanks to its rapid growth in player count.
Despite being one of the most potent tactics in the game, the FLAM-40 Flamethrower has proven to be an extremely difficult weapon to use. In March, players began working on new Flamethrower builds in Helldivers 2, spurred by the weapon's 50% damage boost. Many players, who enjoy greater mobility in shooter games, found the Flamethrower to be a frustrating weapon despite its high damage output. Thankfully, players who enjoy both extreme power and agility have excellent news with the most recent patch.
One of the many bug fixes and gameplay enhancements included in Helldivers 2 version 01.000.403 is a modification to the Peak Physique armor passive. This modification made handling weapons considerably simpler, which is why the Flamethrower is a suitable match with the Peak Physique armor perk. A video of the Flamethrower in operation following the change, posted by Reddit user CalypsoThePython, demonstrates how the handling has improved. They claim that prior to the patch, the strategy would turn "like a truck," making it extremely difficult to aim accurately at adversaries or manage the weapon while strafing or sprinting.
Helldivers 2 Flamethrower Updated With New Features
Midway through June, the Helldivers 2 Viper Commandos Warbond unveiled the Peak Physique armor passive. By reducing drag as a weapon or character moves, the armor perk was meant to improve weapon handling. It also increased melee damage by 50%. The armor perk hasn't been functioning properly since the Warbond's debut, though, and this has impacted weapon ergonomics, making the Flamethrower incredibly slow. The Reddit user's video was tweeted by Helldivers 2 Media, and some players reacted on it, saying they were unaware that the Flamethrower's slowness was caused by a flaw in the Peak Physique armor perk.
The armor perk was patched with amazing speed by Helldivers 2's devs, who have always been quick to fix bugs and release updates. Since it will be simpler to use heavier weapons like the Flamethrower, players have welcomed this new modification. However, many gamers still feel that the Flamethrower mechanics in Helldivers 2 should be improved. A problem with the Flamethrower pointing upward when fired when the Jump Pack is active was brought up by one of these players. When the developers discover the issue, they should be able to address this in a future version for Helldivers 2.
