Players of Destiny 2 appeared to get a sense of déjà vu upon witnessing the pinnacle of the Fortnite and Metallica crossover event. Many Destiny 2 players were reminded of the most recent raid in the game, which came alongside The Final Shape, the current Destiny 2 expansion, by a unique encounter that occurred during Metallica's in-game concert.
Fans of Fortnite and Destiny 2 are ecstatic following significant launch events in recent weeks. Bungie seemed to have effectively concluded the first saga of its main narrative with The Final Shape, which culminated in the Salvation's Edge raid against The Witness, a villain responsible for the majority of the problems in the Destiny universe, despite a significant delay and concerns in the community over the game's issues. Meanwhile, the Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury crossover, which featured a huge live concert including Fortnite renditions of the band members, gave Fortnite players the opportunity to connect with the internationally renowned rock band Metallica. Because it featured a boss battle against the enormous supernatural monster known as the Master of Puppets, the Fortnite Metallica concert event was also interactive.
Experienced Destiny 2 player RuKo1998 felt a sense of déjà vu during that boss fight since, on the surface, it resembled the last encounter of the Salvation's Edge raid. A raid team of Guardians and The Witness itself square off in a battle that could decide the fate of all of reality.
RuKo1998 posted a Fortnite video clip to the Destiny 2 subreddit that showed off a section of the Master of Puppets boss encounter, which began during the Metallica concert. Players must ascend on floating platforms that are hung in a stormy, gloomy sky. The Master of Puppets, a large, multi-armed monster that attacks with multiple hands that discharge magical effects and with portions of its body that players can target, is menacing them from a distance. Many players of Destiny 2 were reminded of the Witness encounter by the Master of Puppets' design, which likewise incorporates a large number of hands in keeping with The Final Shape's horror-themed aesthetic.
Some Destiny 2 players were surprised to see Metallica in the game, especially those who weren't familiar with Fortnite, while others found it humorous that two boss characters who are remarkably similar emerge in two popular live service games just a few weeks apart. There were jokes that the Master of Puppets was actually The Witness and that the Metallica concert was a covert continuation of the 2022 Fortnite and Destiny 2 crossover, which saw characters from Destiny 2 such as Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey, and the Exo Stranger take a seat on the Battle Bus and Fortnite-inspired skins enter the Destiny 2 armor gallery.
The amusing coincidence demonstrates the degree of crossover that exists among certain live service games. Even while both Fortnite and Destiny 2 require a substantial time and effort from their users, the fact that an event in one game can bring up memories of another indicates that a sizable number of players are concurrently enjoying both.
