It appears that the creative director of CD Projekt Red's upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has given a sneak peek at the show. Regarding the studio's upcoming game, fans have been anxiously awaiting any formal announcement.

As of 30th April, the CD Projekt Group reported in its Q1 2024 earnings report that it has zero developers working on Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director Gabe Amatangelo stated in an interview that was released in March that the company's production division, CD Projekt Red, has redirected its attention to the well-liked role-playing game's follow-up, codenamed Project Orion. Other than the fact that it is still in the early stages of development, not much is known about the forthcoming game. However, CD Projekt Red does not seem to want fans to forget that it still has more Cyberpunk stuff in store for them.

Igor Sarzynski, Creative Director of Project Orion, recently stated on Twitter that "cyberpunk is not dead." Apart from Cyberpunk 2077, Sarzynski has also contributed to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015), one of the highest-grossing video games ever. Working with Amatangelo and other seasoned professionals like Ryan Barnard, the former IO Interactive Gameplay Director, and Dan Hernberg, the Lead Product Manager of Blizzard Entertainment, he is currently a member of CD Projekt Red's Boston studio.

Sarzynski's post received a lot of favorable feedback, with one user noting that the Cyberpunk nation was still in existence. Meanwhile, a different user requested any concept art for CD Project Red's upcoming project to be made public. Sarzynski stoked the Project Orion hype train in January when he declared boldly that Cyberpunk 2077 was only a warm-up.

Cyberpunk 2077: The Path to Salvation

Even though Cyberpunk 2077 had a difficult debut in late 2020 with a number of technological problems, it was praised for its sophisticated story, captivating setting, and striking graphics. Numerous upgrades have made the game much more stable, and it has achieved over 25 million sales. In the meantime, the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently regarded as one of the greatest single-player role-playing game expansions ever made. In addition to being nominated for multiple video game awards, the base game won the most recent British Academy Games Awards.

Fans can only hope that the costly restoration of Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red has given the developer new perspectives and innovative ideas that will result in a better follow-up. Project Orion may add features like wall running that were removed from Cyberpunk 2077 or modify some of the contentious aspects of its predecessor, such as the crafting system.
