Given that its creators intend to capitalize on the popularity of its predecessor, Hogwarts Legacy 2 might have a larger environment than its predecessor. There were a few occasions in Hogwarts Legacy that players were able to explore areas outside of the main castle, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and the surrounding highlands. One that comes to mind is the Hufflepuff-only Azkaban mission. However, the only things that players could do were go along the corridor, enter an open cell, or peek inside an occupied one to start a cutscene.

Many fans found the limited "exploration" to be frustrating, and some even started looking for patches that would let them visit the prison once more. Developers should consider putting more of an emphasis on Azkaban, the Dementor-ridden character from Harry Potter, given the desire for it. Having said that, there are other places in Hogwarts Legacy 2 that also merit greater affection. Maybe the most requested locale among the several that the sequel will probably include is Diagon Alley.

It would seem sense to include the opportunity to visit Diagon Alley, the well-known shopping district, in Hogwarts Legacy 2. Since it was first mentioned, the great wizarding shopping area has captivated fans, and seeing it in action in the movies has further stoked their interest. The well-known area has been accessible through cutscenes or exploration in previous games; but, considering the prowess of Avalanche Software and Portkey Games, the inclusion of Diagon Alley in Hogwarts Legacy 2 might prove even more beneficial.

In June 2023, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, a mobile game released worldwide, included an excellent representation of the wizarding district. In addition to being able to visit there whenever they pleased, players could purchase clothing, change the way they looked, and do a lot more. Even if mobile games have gotten more immersive as technology has advanced, they can never match the sheer technical power of consoles and PCs.

Diagon Alley would be a perfectly reasonable addition for Avalanche to do for Hogwarts Legacy 2. As an illustration, the original title gave Hogsmeade, the home of Harry Potter, justice. The shops had individual personalities and the village was full of life. The team's enthusiasm for the world was evident in the variety of things they offered in store and in the artwork they created.

It's almost official that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will happen, and it will probably be bigger. If so, it's possible that players will have access to both shopping areas. This would provide developers the opportunity to demonstrate how businesses and NPC behavior might differ in a tiny town from a fully commercial shopping district that attracts a diverse range of customers. Even if Hogsmeade's role in Hogwarts Legacy 2 is reduced or eliminated entirely due to the introduction of Diagon Alley, it might allow for a stronger focus on the former.

More benefits might arise from an explorable Diagon Alley in Hogwarts Legacy 2 than merely additional stores and marvels to see and explore. Other staples like Knockturn Alley, Ollivanders, the Leaky Cauldron, and the like would most likely also be drawn in by this.

A new viewpoint on the history of Gringotts' Wizarding Bank in the Harry Potter universe will be possible with the addition of new questlines. Many players will be able to choose a darker route in Hogwarts Legacy 2's tale and decision-making process thanks to the addition of Knockturn Alley and Diagon Alley. This feature was greatly missed when certain RPG components, such as the Morality system, were removed from the original game. Leaky Cauldron and its eclectic customers will also reveal more information about deeper secrets, a more complete NPC roster, and perhaps even a path to the Dark Arts or the pinnacles of the Ministry of Magic.
