One gamer chose to challenge their engineering prowess while playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom by creating a mechanical dragon. Tears of the Kingdom, although a successor to Breath of the Wild, expanded on its predecessor's base by giving players new powers that let them create a wide range of objects in the game's universe.
With the use of these new skills, such Ultrahand, gamers can now make Link become an inventor. The community of the game has pushed the envelope since its May 2023 release, producing a plethora of useful and stunning-looking devices. The player community has created a wide variety of constructions, ranging from vehicles inspired by popular movie properties like Star Wars to weaponized devices designed to defeat Lynels and other opponents in Tears of the Kingdom.
A Reddit member going by the handle osh-kosh-ganache just posted an amazing video of a mechanical dragon they built in Tears of the Kingdom. The film depicts the dragon, called Jeff the Dragon, having the ability to execute the standard movements of magical monsters, including flapping its wings, breathing fire, and soaring over Hyrule. Beyond these features, the osh-kosh-ganache construction was notable because of how well the design resembled a genuine dragon. Remarkably, the artist combined elements from past Zonai games, like a minecart, with fan, large wheel, and wing Zonai gadgets to create the dragon's features in Tears of the Kingdom.
Even though it was amazing to behold, osh-kosh-ganache offered a tutorial in Tears of the Kingdom that explained how to construct the mechanical fire-breathing dragon. With the help of this film, which provided a step-by-step overview of the procedure, players could easily create their own Jeff the Dragon. In the Reddit comments, the designer added some more background information about the creation and mentioned that Tears of the Kingdom's mechanical dragon was included in version 1.2.1. They added that this was a better design than the last one and disclosed that the Autobuild feature could now be used to rebuild Jeff the Dragon.
Noteworthy to mention is the prolific builder osh-kosh-ganache, who shares many of their amazing creations on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit. The designer stated that "having a model that you can auto build and also flies better than the first model is especially fulfilling to make." This most current dragon build underwent numerous iterations in order to function properly.
Tears of the Kingdom isn't scheduled to have DLC, but the game's building mechanics will probably keep players coming back long after they finish the main plot. It will be interesting to see what creative constructors like osh-kosh-ganache create in the game's universe next.
