After more than 400 hours of play, a Cyberpunk 2077 player found an unexpected Easter egg that made reference to the real-life electronic music group Daft Punk. Cyberpunk 2077 has never shied away from paying homage to significant works from a wide range of renowned properties since its release back in 2020. These references range from dystopian sci-fi movies to vintage anime. Enthusiastic players have made an effort to find every Easter egg and secret in the game, including the allusions concealed in Phantom Liberty, the game's lone expansion DLC.
As a result of players noticing the abundance of quests, vehicles, and secrets referencing well-known works—some of which even referenced IPs from the 1980s—Cyberpunk 2077 gained notoriety for its Easter eggs. The open-world action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red is notable for its occasionally mash-up of references. One example is the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X case, which bears the same name as the main character of the Ghost in the Shell manga and is a vehicle that can be purchased. It looks a lot like the bike from the anime film Akira.
A fan recently found another Easter egg. After spending more than 400 hours wandering the dystopian streets of Night City, they discovered an unanticipated Daft Punk connection. In the r/cyberpunkgame subreddit, Reddit user HackSama posted a picture of V and Johnny Silverhand posing with two people wearing helmets. The two, who are referred to in-game as the DJ team Private Press, made their most notable appearance at Riot's 99.9 Impulse event. They can also be seen during the "I Don't Wanna Hear It" side mission, when the player can discover them standing outside the club's front door.
Cyberpunk 2077 made several references to the music business in addition to this. Johnny's passionate rocker-boy character would have been influenced by songs like The Beatles' "A Day in the Life" and AC/DC's "Shoot To Thrill." These songs are the names of both major and secondary objectives that come after the game's prologue.Pop fans will undoubtedly like the Cyberpunk 2077 Easter egg that makes reference to Rihanna. It has V's talking handgun Skippy humming the song "Disturbia."
Almost four years after the game's debut, developers have verified that there are still Cyberpunk 2077 Easter eggs to be found, despite the fact that fans have found dozens, if not hundreds, of allusions. But with CD Projekt Red announcing that there would be no more significant content releases beyond the Phantom Liberty DLC, a lot of fans think it's just a matter of time until all of Cyberpunk 2077's mysteries are revealed by the game's player community.
