After winning a thriller of the Year award at a recent event, Remedy Entertainment's 2023 survival horror thriller Alan Wake 2 now has another badge of critical praise to add to its collection. The most recent game from the Finnish company has garnered positive reviews from both critics and players since its release. It's clear that Alan Wake 2 has remained highly popular in the eyes of its fans because the game is still receiving positive reviews almost six months after its release.

Despite being published in October 2023, amid one of the busiest years in gaming history, Alan Wake 2 was able to distinguish itself and garner praise from reviews. The game had a lot to live up to as a long-overdue sequel to a previous Xbox 360 exclusive, and it succeeded in pleasing fans of the first cult classic. Thankfully, Alan Wake 2 surpassed a lot of players' expectations and turned out to be one of the greatest games of 2023. Though it appears like Alan Wake 2's awards season is far from over, the game just took home yet another significant honor at a showcase.

Alan Wake 2 took up three awards from the recently held Nordic Game Awards in Malmo, Sweden. The game was not only named Nordic Game of the Year, but it also took home the Best Art and Best Audio prizes. Remedy Entertainment's highly regarded game was, for the most part, the star of the show because to the numerous awards it received. Alan Wake 2's sweeping of the showcase is all the more remarkable considering that other Nordic-developed titles Bramble: The Mountain King, The Finals, Ikonei Island, Rytmos, and Cocoon only took home one prize apiece.

Alan Wake 2 had fierce competition for Game of the Year since it was published in the same year as popular games like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Despite this, the film was able to take home multiple accolades for its script, art direction, storyline, and main performances at a few different events. Furthermore, Alan Wake 2 unexpectedly tied for the most nominations at The Game Awards 2023 with the previously mentioned Baldur's Gate 3, with eight nominations overall.

Though Alan Wake 2 is still having trouble breaking even six months after its debut, the game's tremendous critical acclaim has sadly not translated into economic success. Despite selling 1.3 million copies, the game didn't even place in the top 150 games in the US in October 2023 according to the number of active players. Hopefully, Remedy Entertainment won't have to worry about money problems in the near future as it will be able to recover the expenses of developing Alan Wake 2 and keep giving its fans the experiences they enjoy.
