The creator, Auroch Digital, is creating a new addition for Warhammer 40000: Boltgun, the well-known vintage shooter. Boltgun, an expansion based on the renowned Warhammer 40K setting, was originally released on 23rd May, 2023, coinciding with the basic game's first anniversary.
A number of new games based on the popular far-future setting from Games Workshop have been released in recent years. Even well-known series like Call of Duty had a Warhammer 40K crossover that gave Modern Warfare 3's realistic look a Space Marine and Astra Militarum flavor. Warhammer 40000: Boltgun, on the other hand, borrowed elements from Doom and Quake to combine the fast-paced action of a throwback shooter with the exaggerated savagery of 40K.
Publisher Focus Entertainment announced the name of the expansion for Warhammer 40000: Boltgun, Forges of Corruption, at the recent Warhammer Skulls event, coinciding with the game's one-year anniversary. It will expand the already sizable collection of the greatest Warhammer 40000: Boltgun weaponry with additional levels and equipment. On June 18, 2024, the expansion will be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One. Later, on an undisclosed date, the Switch version of the expansion will be released.
Players will face a number of new adversaries in the Forges of Corruption add-on that are modelled after the Chaos Space Marines Black Legion. These include the Chaos Marine with heavy weaponry, Black Legion Havoc, and the Space Marine dreadnought mecha, Helbrute, corrupted by Chaos. New weaponry are also included in the expansion, such as the Missile Launcher, which fires potent unguided missiles, and the Multi-Melta, a rifle that discharges strong flame gouts. Last but not least, a brand-new Horde Mode will be made available to all Boltgun gamers at no cost along with the add-on's release. The new DLC for Boltgun will test players' mettle against never-ending waves of progressively formidable opponents, just like all the best horde modes in video games.
