The Dota 2 community has been rocked by numerous accusations of cheating in recent months. As the legitimacy of professional matches came under scrutiny, fans began looking into both their own matches and the hacking community at large. A Dota 2 fan confirmed many people's fears and uncovered a startling fact when they dug deeper into the game's darker aspects.
It was discovered that four cheating programs, some of which were from 2020, were still operational in Dota 2, demonstrating how far behind Valve is in terms of updating their anti-cheat software. Given that all of the hacks in question were publicly available, the VAC system, which once instilled dread in the hearts of cheaters, appears to have moved on from its heyday.
By sharing their terrifying experiences, which included everything from playing against players who had a 100% counter-ward rate to outright vision hacks, some fans confirmed the initial reports.
According to several users, who have been using the same trick for more than a year, Valve appears to have given up on updating its anti-cheat system. In order to deter hackers, Valve was well-known for suspending millions of VACs in waves during the 2010s.
With time, VAC waves subsided, and now gamers are punished severely only in cases where there are numerous reports. Because it can be challenging to identify cheaters in Dota 2 unless they are obviously scripting, the Overwatch system is largely relied upon by the Dota 2 community to make up for Valve's shortcomings.
The Dota 2 community was filled with doubts about how bad things may get because Valve was unable to identify cheats and hacks.
