VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas Stage 1 is an offline tournament, taking place in Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles. Organized by Riot Games, this tournament commenced on 6th April 2024 and concluded on 12th May 2024. In this tournament total eleven teams participated. Let's look into the specifics of this competition.
The Americas Stage 1 format of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024
Group stage was held from 6th April to May 5th, 2024. Two Single Round-Robin groups was formed. Group Alpha had 5 teams & Group Omega had 6 teams. A random drawing of teams was done from pots according to Kickoff results. One team was selected from Pot 1. Additionally, the winner of the Kickoff was assigned to Group Alpha, and the runner-up to Group Omega. One team from Pot 2 which included playoff semifinalists. One team from Pot 3 which included teams that advanced to the Play-In. Pot 4 teams include one squad that advanced past the group stage but did not place worst in their respective groups.. One - two teams from Pot 5 which comprised teams that were eliminated in the group stage after finishing last in their groups. Teams played cross-group matches.
All matches were played in best of three format.
Top 3 teams from each group advanced to the playoffs. Winners had a bye into the Upper Bracket Semifinals. 2nd & 3rd place teams advanced to the Knockout Round. Each team also needed at least two wins to qualify for the playoffs. If this rule was not met, the highest-ranked team from the other group that met this criteria and had not already advanced qualified instead.
Playoffs were held from 8th May to 12th May, 2024. Hybrid-Elimination bracket was applied and Knockout Round was single-elimination. Upper Bracket Semifinals onwards was double-elimination. All matches excluding Lower Bracket Final & Grand Final were played in best of three series format. Lower Bracket Final & Grand Final was played in best of five series format. Top 3 teams qualified for Masters Shanghai.
