Mid-Season Invitational 2024 is an offline League of Legends tournament, taking place in Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center, Chengdu. Organized by Riot Games, this tournament boasts a total prize pool of $250,000 USD. It commenced on 1st May 2024 and will conclude on 19th May 2024 and 12 teams are taking part in this tournament. Mid-Season Invitational 2024 Format
12 teams from professional leagues will qualify for this tournament. The LPL, LCK, LEC, and LCS will have 2 slots whereas the LLA, CBLOL, PCS and VCS have one slot. After the merger of the LJL into the PCS Ecosystem this year, they no longer have a direct slot at MSI, but are able to qualify through the PCS Playoffs similiar to the LCO teams.
During the play in stage (May 1st – 5th). Eight teams will be divided into two groups where they will play a double elimination bracket. ( Commonly known as a GSL-Style Group stage). All matches will be played in a best of three series format. Top 2 teams in each group will be promoted to bracket stage. Each group's bottom two teams will be eliminated.
Side Selection Procedures
In the first round, first game side selection is reserved for the Pool 1/2 team.In the subsequent rounds, first game side selection will be decided by a coin toss (or equivalent procedure).For all series, apart from the first game, the side selection for subsequent games will be decided by the loser of the previous game.
Bracket Stage will be held from May 7th to 12th, then again from May 14th to 19th. Eight teams will play in a double elimination bracket. Best of five series format will be applicable for all the matches.
