Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov, Manager of Team Spirit, recently made remarks that sparked controversy in the Dota 2 community about the ESL's enforcement of slot revocation and visa filing deadlines for the upcoming ESL One Birmingham 2024.
Korb3n publicly attacked ESL in a Telegram channel post, saying that the organizers' deadlines were unrealistic considering the difficulties in acquiring UK visas. He also took issue with what he saw to be unduly stringent visa submission procedures.
Korb3n also voiced unhappiness with ESL's decision to cancel 1win's tournament spot a few days prior to the event, raising concerns about the impact and fairness of the last-minute alteration.
Korb3n has voiced displeasure with ESL's strict deadlines for visa submissions. He contended that, considering the difficulties in acquiring UK visas, which frequently entail protracted bureaucratic procedures and probable delays, the deadlines, which were set to expire 13 days before the event, were irrational and unreasonable.
He claims that ESL ought to have taken these difficulties into account when setting the application deadline for visas.
Additionally, Korb3n attacked ESL for removing 1win's tournament place thirteen days prior to the event, stating that 1win's LAN spot should not have been in jeopardy because it was legitimately acquired through the qualifiers.
In response, he said that ESL ought to have chosen a substitute squad and given 1win more time to turn in the required paperwork. In this manner, ESL could have made a choice without giving in, even five days prior to ESL One Birmingham 2024.
It's crucial to remember that OG eventually replaced the spot that was first given to 1win when they declared their intention to attend ESL One Birmingham 2024.
After ESL made its disclosure, 1win, however, published an official notice claiming that they were not experiencing any problems with their passport or visa. It declared that it was prepared to take off for ESL One Birmingham 2024 in the UK. 1win stated that a holiday caused a delay in the issuing of their visa.
