The last round of the competition is about to begin, after the first Elite League took place over two weeks ago. Only eight clubs are left to compete in the playoffs after twenty-four driven teams battled it out in the demanding group stages of the first Elite League.

The Dota 2 community will get to see the winners of the inaugural Elite League when the playoffs begin on 12th  April. The question is will Team Falcons win the event a record three times in a row? As the most promising team in the competition and the first to make it to the playoffs out of the eight deserving competitors, that is. Or will the title be stolen by another team?

The tournament winner will take home the majority of the $960K USD prize pool and leave their mark on Dota 2 history.

The Final Eight Teams in the Elite League Playoffs

After the Dota 2 powerhouses Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, and OG were eliminated from the Elite League Round-Robin stage. The last eight have shown they are deserving of the opportunity to become the first-ever Elite League champions.

It's interesting to note that two of the eight teams that made it to the playoffs were directly invited to the Swiss round, while the other six teams entered the competition through the Round-Robin round.

Teams Eligible For The Playoffs

  • PSG Quest
  • Team Falcons
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Team Liquid
  • Tundra Esports
  • Xtreme Gaming
  • G2 x iG
  • Azure Ray

The young, MENA-based Team Falcons, who have been dominating the professional Dota 2 scene and have already won two significant tournaments in 2024, was the first team to make it to the playoffs. Is Elite League going to be its third?

Team Liquid, who seem to be cursed to finish second in every event, trailed closely behind. The Chinese powerhouse teams, Azure Ray, G2 x iG, and Xtreme Gaming, also made it into the playoffs, thus they should not be taken lightly.

Notably, Azure Ray defeated PSG Quest and G2 x iG in the tiebreakers and gained entry into the upper bracket, which is safer than the lower bracket, which is more dangerous for PSG Quest and G2 x iG.

After a difficult Round-Robin phase, Tundra and Gaimin made it to the lower bracket.
