While Team Spirit has been one of the top Dota 2 teams in recent years, one of its weaknesses has been that it tends to start slowly and pick up speed as the seasons and tournaments go on. Still, Elite League 2024 has gotten off to a slower start than normal; after five sets, the squad won its first series in the group stage. Support player Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov of Spirit talked about the team's previous underwhelming performance in an interview given after the victory. To get back on track, the squad must maintain discipline and not give up on early leads, as Mira indicated.
Following Spirit's 2-0 Elite League 2024 victory over OG, Mira went into further detail about Spirit's problems and what has to be done differently for the squad to succeed going forward.
" We were playing fast and had the lead, but we blew the opportunity to win.. Now that we have concluded our games and managed to score some points, we have finally won. Although it's difficult, we know we can play better, so it's not too horrible. All we need is a little more self-control, as the series against OG demonstrated. To finish the game properly and avoid feeding, we simply need to work on our tiny issues with discipline and teamwork.”
Spirit got off to a bad start in the competition, falling to Heroic 2-0. Things appeared to have steadied in the following series after tying 1-1 with Team Falcons, the squad that has been the most competitive in the 2024 competitive season thus far. After then, though, things didn't go well; Entity and G2.iG both lost 2-0.
Spirit has a good record against OG, so the squad was able to mount a formidable comeback during that series. The team's 2-0 victory in both games was made possible by playing in accordance with the drafting strategies, which was essential for maintaining its prospects in the tournament.
Spirit has won three of the last ten games as of right now. The team's next two series are against PSG Quest and Azure Ray. In order to have a realistic chance of making the playoffs, they will probably need to win both of these series.
