Thanks to a player's personalized costume, Tracer, a member of the renowned hero organization Overwatch, has joined the Guardians of the Last City in Destiny 2. The armor and shader settings available in the game were used to build the Destiny 2 customisation.
Destiny 2's enormous selection of armor and color possibilities, which the game has accumulated over time, makes it an ideal platform for player-driven fashion innovation. Players have developed a wide variety of unique looks, ranging from amusing, unexpected objects like a head of corn to characters from popular brands like Marty McFly from Back to the Future or a soldier from Helldivers 2.
A Player In Destiny 2 Makes A Personalized Overwatch Outfit Inspired by Tracer
Julicious, a user on the DestinyFashion subreddit, was one particularly inventive gamer. Julicious created a custom appearance for herself based on Overwatch's Tracer using a set of Destiny 2 Hunter armor ornaments and shaders. However, because the armor design in-game was preset, their version of Tracer lacked the character's iconic tech accessories, such as the Chronal Accelerator worn on her back and chest.
Utilizing some comparatively unused pieces from the Hunter armor assortment, Julicious' Destiny 2 Tracer costume made use of their form-fitting silhouettes to accurately mimic the appearance of the finest diving hero in Overwatch 2. The low-rarity Mechanik is used in the appearance. To replicate Tracer's signature leather flight jacket, 1.1 arms and the Intrepid Discovery Vest chest item with the Long Journeys shader are used. Using the Copperbrand shader, the NPA "Weir-Walker" Strides leg piece from the Destiny 2 Season of the Deep armor set provided Tracer's most recognizable element of her go-to outfit : her orange tights.
Other gamers of Destiny 2 complimented Julicious' work. They pointed out that despite the huge differences in Overwatch and Destiny 2's character design sensibilities, the colors were relatively accurate. Some offered their own recommendations, including using the in-game Courtier Helm, whose default appearance more closely resembled Tracer's tech gear's white tone and the style of her glasses. To further invoke Tracer's name in the design, another player recommended adding some Destiny 2 Hunter Exotic equipment, such the Foetracer helm, to make the suit more combat-ready.
Seeing players draw links between Overwatch and Destiny ,even if they aren't official is entertaining. Early concepts for the original Destiny strongly resembled what would later become Overwatch at one point. Maybe in the future, there will be crossovers between the two games or other cooperative content releases that bring them closer together.
