Team Liquid’s Dota 2 team faced a crushing defeat against Gaimin Gladiators in BetBoom Dacha 2024. The clash, eagerly anticipated after the teams’ grand finals history, took an unexpected turn when Neta “33” Shapira, Liquid's offlaner, refused to shake hands with the triumphant Gaimin players.

This encounter, marked as the pinnacle of 2023's epic battles, unfolded in the BetBoom Dacha 2024 opener, captivating fans worldwide. Despite Dota 2's recent trend towards extended matches, this series concluded within an hour. As the time came for the customary handshake, Gaimin approached Liquid's players, only to face a firm rejection from 33.

The absence of player audio during this tense moment on the livestream left Dota 2 enthusiasts speculating about the reasons behind 33's unprecedented move. Even popular streamer Gorgc, in a bid to decipher the offlaner's actions, reviewed the clip with his live audience but failed to glean any insights from lip-reading.

Post-handshake denial, anticipation peaked as Quinn Callahan was summoned for a post-match interview. Many hoped he would shed light on the dramatic handshake incident. However, as Quinn delved into their picks, the interview audio mysteriously cut off, diverting the stream back to the casters. This information vacuum sparked fervent discussions on Reddit, with fans crafting theories about 33's refusal.

Some attributed it to sour sportsmanship, branding Liquid's offlaner as "salty," while others presented less contentious theories, suggesting he might be under the weather. As speculations ran rampant, Liquid’s Coach Blitz added fuel to the fire on social media (formerly Twitter), asserting that there was no underlying issue between the two teams and that they simply "hated Quinn."

Within 40 minutes of Blitz's statement, Quinn responded on social media, dispelling rumors. "There’s no beef between me and 33," Quinn clarified. "Losing just sucks, and it feels like doing it after a best of two." According to Quinn, the situation was being overanalyzed, and the toll of losing on the main stage could affect players in unexpected ways.

The drama unfolded further as Liquid commenced the next day with a victory over Falcons. However, the live audience remained in suspense, unsure whether the two teams reconciled with a handshake after the games.
