The much-anticipated Xbox exclusive, "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," might not remain confined to the Xbox realm for long. Reports circulating within gaming circles suggest that Microsoft is reevaluating its strategy, considering the launch of some of its exclusive titles on other platforms, including the PlayStation 5 (PS5).
Scheduled for a late 2024 release, the Indiana Jones game, developed by Bethesda and MachineGames, was initially poised to be a significant exclusive for Xbox, maintaining the company's usual day-and-date PC release strategy. However, recent updates reveal an internal debate within Microsoft about altering this approach, possibly introducing a delayed release on other consoles, with the PS5 being a potential candidate.
This potential shift in strategy extends beyond Indiana Jones, as another blockbuster title, Starfield, is rumored to be making its way to the PS5 soon. Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves are also expected to follow suit, with the former likely to be announced for both the Nintendo Switch and PS5 in the upcoming weeks.
Despite these groundbreaking developments, Xbox's Chief Executive, Phil Spencer, had emphatically stated in December that there were no plans to extend Game Pass to other gaming platforms such as PlayStation or Switch. However, given the recent shake-ups within the gaming division, marked by a significant workforce reduction in January, industry experts speculate that Microsoft might be more open to radical changes than previously indicated.
