Mad Kings, the South American esports powerhouse, has severed ties with its Dota 2 team, estar_backs. This unexpected move comes on the heels of a controversial incident during the DreamLeague Season 22 South American closed qualifiers, leaving the organization in a temporary competitive hiatus.

Mad Kings' Explains the Situation and Reveals Future Plans

The focal point of the upheaval revolves around Steven "StingeR" Vargas, a pivotal support player for Mad Kings. In the midst of a series against Thunder Awaken, Vargas faced a sudden ban, leading to an automatic default loss for Mad Kings and an untimely exit from the qualifiers.

The ban, as later disclosed, stemmed from an account-sharing episode involving former Mad Kings carry player, David "Parker" Nicho Flores, and StingeR himself. This unforeseen breach of rules sent shockwaves through the esports community, prompting Mad Kings to take decisive action.

In response to the debacle, Mad Kings took to X (fromerly Twitter) on January 18 to make a formal announcement. The organization clarified its stance, emphasizing the adherence to and respect for Valve's rules. The dissolution of the partnership with estar_backs was framed as a necessary step to uphold the integrity of competitive Dota 2.

The organization made it clear that it acknowledges and values the rules set by Valve, considering them an essential aspect of its organizational framework. As a result of the violation of these rules, the decision was reached to terminate the collaboration with estar_backs.

Contrary to allegations of boosting made by former Infamous player Pedro "mini" Paula, Mad Kings clarified that the account ban was unrelated to boosting. The organization rebutted Mini's claims, stating that the account ban was not due to boosting.
