NRG announced its return to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports with high hopes in November 2023. However, the organization has now faced a massive hurdle as they stumbled in the North American closed qualifier. The much-anticipated PGL Copenhagen Major RMR slipped through their fingers as they ended with a 2-3 record, falling short of securing a coveted spot.

NRG’s Journey in PGL Copenhagen Major RMR Qualifiers

Their journey commenced on a high note, triumphing over Badass with a narrow 16-14 victory. However, facing formidable opponents in Complexity and Nouns proved to be their undoing. Both adversaries clinched RMR qualification, leaving NRG in the dust. Despite a commendable effort against LOS, the decisive series against Rocket saw NRG bowing out with a disappointing 0-2 defeat, crushing their aspirations for CS2's inaugural Major.

Expectations were high for NRG in the North American closed qualifier, with Team Liquid, M80, Nouns, and Complexity emerging successfully. The American RMR is slated for March 1 to 4 in Monterrey, Mexico, where the NA contenders will battle it out. Meanwhile, South American teams eagerly await the upcoming closed qualifier on Jan. 19 to determine their fate.

Looking ahead, NRG finds solace in the prospect of redemption, gearing up for the ESL Challenger League Season 47 North America starting on Feb. 6 and extending until June. Securing victory in this event not only brings prestige but also grants passage to the esteemed 20th season of the ESL Pro League.
