The Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2, the second edition of their "Mickey Mouse" tournament, was hosted byLudwig Ahgren and Tarik Celik. The tournament, which was played over the course of two days, boasted a massive prize pool of $50,000.
The major highlights of the tournament were: a show match, multiple overtimes, and the debut of a new roster of the participating teams. In the end, Oxygen Esports, led by Michael "dapr" Gulino, defeated Moist x Shopify in the Grand Final.
Let’s discuss the events of the second and last day of the second Ludwig x Tarik Invitational.
Lower Bracket Final
Following their defeat by Cloud9 in the Lower Bracket on the opening day, the newly formed 100 Thieves Valorant roster was eliminated from the tournament. Following the win, Cloud9 went on to play Oxygen Esports in the Lower Bracket Final. The winner then advanced to the Grand Final, which featured Moist x Shopify on the flip side.
Both the teams were expected to show a cut throat battle, but Oxygen Esports dominated to win Split 13–1. Oxygen Esports went on to win the second map, Icebox, as well, with a resounding 9-3 final in the first half.
Ludwig vs. Tarik Showmatch
Ludwig and Tarik's teams fought in a show match in order to give Oxygen a little respite and time to get ready for the Grand Final. Streamers such as Pokimane, Masayoshi, TenZ, LilyPichu, and others were part of the teams.
The two teams traded maps in the first two Best of 3 maps, 13-2 and 13-1 stomps, before moving on to the decisive map. TenZ and Tarik engaged in combat on Lotus, with TenZ scoring 30 and 35 kills, respectively. In the end, TenZ assisted Team Ludwig in winning the show match 13–10.
Grand Final
Moist x Shopify and Oxygen Esports squared off in the $45,000 Grand Final, with the winner taking home $30,000 and the runners up receiving $15,000.
The first map was Ascent, which Moist x Shopify selected. The first half ended 6–6, meaning that the teams were unable to separate. Oxygen Esports won the second pistol round, but Moist x Shopify defeated them in the subsequent round. Using their momentum, Moist x Shopify won the map 13–9.
Split was the next map that Oxygen selected. Moist x Shopify won the first half 7–5, displaying a respectable defensive effort. They were unable to effectively execute their attacking side, though, and Oxygen went on to win the map 13–8 after sweeping the second half.
Sunset was the decisive map because the series was tied. Sadly, the competition came to an unimpressive end when Oxygen Esports won the second Ludwig x Tarik Invitational, winning the map 13-3 with ease.
