Vertex has bid farewell to its CS2 roster, marking a pivotal moment in Oceanic esports. The decision comes just ahead of the highly anticipated Copenhagen Major RMR qualifiers. However, Vertex director Jamie “JDU” Uncles, however, assures fans that this departure is not the end of their involvement in CS2.

The absence of Vertex in the invites for the Oceanic RMR closed qualifier raised eyebrows last week. Instead, a mysterious team named "Bad News Kangaroos" has emerged, featuring familiar faces like Jordan “pz” White and Toby “BRACE” Barnes. Under the BNK banner, this squad is set to compete in the interim period.
This strategic shift follows Vertex's exit from the LCO after only two splits. JDU reflects on a successful 2023 that took a toll on him mentally, citing the challenges posed by a declining tournament scene in Oceania. The decision to part ways with the CS team stems from JDU's uncertainty about the future and the rapidly changing esports landscape.
Looking ahead, JDU unveils a new vision for Vertex in Oceania. Rather than focusing solely on one team, Vertex aims to contribute to the entire esports community. JDU expresses frustration over the untapped talent in various games like CS, Call of Duty, and League of Legends, vowing to redirect resources towards holistic community support.
The dissolution of the Vertex CS2 roster marks the end of a chapter for one of Oceania's most competitive squads since its inception in 2020. Despite consistent battles for the top spot domestically and appearances at prestigious events, Vertex faced challenges in capitalizing on opportunities. The pinnacle, qualifying for the BLAST Paris Major APAC RMR, ended in disappointment due to technical issues and poor scheduling.

The journey continues for the former Vertex squad, now rebranded as Bad News Kangaroos, as they embark on the Oceanic closed qualifier starting 19 January. While Vertex bids farewell to a specific roster, the organization looks forward to a future marked by community-wide support and a fresh perspective on Oceania's esports landscape.
