Valorant Patch 8.0 is all set to bring massive changes to two agents and two maps. The newer agent Deadlock will be buffed in the upcoming update, whereas Killjoy will get nerfed. On the other hand, Lotus and Icebox will also see some changes. Furthermore, the highly anticipated new sniper rifle Outlaw will also be introduced with this update. Let's have a brief look at the upcoming changes.
Valorant Patch 8.0: Agent Changes
For the upcoming patch, Deadlock will be buffed and Killjoy will be nerfed. Following are the changes:
Deadlock:
Deadlock gets enhancements to its Sonic Sensor (Q) and Barrier Mesh (E). Sonic Sensor gains the ability to be reclaimed mid-round, expanding its reach to 27m, inducing faster disorientation (0.5s), and granting Deadlock and her allies a subtle audio cue when near. Barrier Mesh sees an upgrade, extending its walls to 10m.
Killjoy:
The vision of Killjoy’s turret undergoes a nerf. Its vision radius has shrunk from 180 to 100 degrees. A welcomed addition is the vision cone representation on Killjoy's minimap during turret placement. Visual effects and updated animations ensure clear communication of the reduced vision radius, aiming for a balanced gameplay experience.
Map Changes: Lotus and Icebox
Beyond agent adjustments, the meta takes an unexpected turn with changes to Lotus and the reintroduction of Icebox to Valorant's map pool. A crucial upgrade in Lotus is the extension of rotating doors to a 10-second cycle. Riot justifies this shift, believing it provides a better window for tactical planning and execution. Icebox's return promises a fresh perspective, challenging players to adapt their strategies.
Adding another layer to the evolving meta is the debut of a new weapon - the Outlaw. As February 2024 starts the beginning of the VCT circuit, anticipation builds around how these agent and map changes, coupled with the introduction of the Outlaw, will shape the competitive landscape.
