The highly anticipated Games of the Future 2024, which is a Dota 2 event, will take place in Kazan, Russia at the illustrious versatile world-class exhibition center Kazan Expo. The tournament is organized by Games of Future, and will feature a massive prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. The tournament is scheduled to take place between 19th and 25th February.
The tournament will witness 14 invited teams and two qualified teams lock horns with one another for the ultimate title and the lion's share in the million-dollar prize pool. As of writing this article, of 14 invited teams, only two teams have been decided, namely LGD and G2.iG. The remaining invited teams are yet to be finalized. On the other hand, One Move and HYDRA are the two teams that made their place in the tournament through Phygital Games 1 and 2.
Games of the Future 2024: Tournament Format
Games of the Future 2024 will be played in two stages: Group Stage and Playoffs.
In the group stage, there will be a total of 4 groups, comprising four teams each. All the matches will be of the best-of-3 game series. The top teams from each group will head for the Playoffs 2nd Stage while the second and third-placed teams will move to the 1st stage. Regrettably, the bottom teams will be eliminated from the tournament, discontinuing their journey in the tournament.
The playoffs will be played between the surviving 12 teams from the group stage. This stage will be played in a single-elimination bracket format with all games set to be played in the best-of-3 game series.
Game of the Future is yet to unveil more information about this tournament. Fans can expect to get more details about the remaining invited teams and prize pool distribution soon. With so much hype built around the tournament, it will be interesting to see which teams get a direct invitation, and which team triumphs to win this million dollars tournament.
