In a surprising twist of events, FURIA, a powerhouse in the North American Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS), recently made waves by parting ways with its entire roster ahead of Year Four. However, far from slowing down, the organization is already gearing up for a strong comeback, and speculation is rife about a strategic move that could reshape their fortunes.

Battlefy Leaks FURIA’s ALGS Roster

The official ALGS Battlefy website has unveiled the invited teams for Split One of the ALGS Pro League in all major regions, revealing FURIA's spot now occupied by a new team, Already There. Comprising Ryan "ImMadness" Schlieve, "Keon" Berghout, and an undisclosed third member, all eyes are on the rumors pointing to the return of Jacob "HisWattson" McMillin from retirement to lead FURIA once again.

The catalyst for this potential shift came when Already There's former member, Alan "Vaxlon" Gonzalez, declared free agency on Dec. 13. This triggered speculations that FURIA had been actively scouting for a new captain, with prominent sources suggesting that HisWattson is the frontrunner for the coveted position.

HisWattson's legacy in competitive Apex speaks volumes. From his debut with Rare Xcellence in 2021 to captaining FURIA on May 31, 2022, he showcased unparalleled aggressiveness and creativity. The team's triumph in the NA Last Chance Qualifier and a notable second-place finish at the 2022 Championship cemented HisWattson's reputation. His groundbreaking use of Seer revolutionized the meta, challenging conventional defensive strategies.

However, as the meta evolved towards a more offensive playstyle, FURIA faced challenges in keeping up, culminating in a disappointing 37th place finish at the 2023 Split Two Playoffs. Following this setback, HisWattson gracefully retired, transitioning from a pro player to FURIA's content creator.

FURIA's decision to drop the entire roster on Dec. 13 was attributed to a lack of team cohesion, as stated by head coach Jxmo. Many fans assumed the team would stay intact for 2024, but FURIA's bold move suggests a strategic overhaul.

If the rumors hold true, FURIA stands to be the standout winners of the ALGS off-season. HisWattson's potential return not only signifies a reunion with the most successful period in FURIA's ALGS history but also promises a fresh and innovative approach for the upcoming competitive year. As teams experiment with compositions featuring the latest legend, Conduit, HisWattson's return could position FURIA to lead the charge in reshaping the meta and securing continued international success for North America.
