In a surprising turn of events, the renowned League of Legends jungler Spica, former LCS MVP, will not be gracing the 2024 Spring Split. Regarded as one of North America's best, Spica recently revealed his absence from the upcoming competition, citing "unfortunate circumstances."
Spica Reveals he Will be Absent From 2024 Spring Split Due To “Unfortunate Circumstances”
Having represented FlyQuest throughout the 2023 season, Spica's journey took an unexpected turn after the team's decision to undergo a massive overhaul following disappointing results, including missing the 2023 World Championship. The organization brought in European jungler Inspired during the reshuffle, leaving Spica teamless heading into 2024.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), the 22-year-old esports star outlined his plan to stream full-time in the initial months of the season, primarily on Twitch. However, Spica remains optimistic about his future, actively seeking new team opportunities for the Summer Split. With his track record and skill set, it's anticipated that Spica will attract multiple offers, especially if any LCS teams falter in the Spring Split.
Spica's illustrious career reached its peak three years ago when he played a pivotal role for TSM. Taking the reins after the retirement of LCS veterans Bjergsen and Doublelift, Spica led the team to a top spot finish in the regular season, boasting an impressive 30-15 record. His stellar performance earned him the title of the competition's most valuable player, solidifying his status as a key player in the league.
However, the subsequent seasons saw a downturn in Spica's fortunes, with TSM failing to make Worlds in 2022 and a disappointing ninth-place finish with FlyQuest in 2023. The reduced number of teams in the LCS for 2024, dropping from ten to eight, likely contributed to Spica's current predicament, with fewer spots available for top-tier junglers.

As the LCS Spring Split approaches on Saturday, Jan. 20, under the supervision of new commissioner Markz, the absence of Spica on the roster will undoubtedly leave fans and fellow players speculating about the impact of his absence on the competition. For now, Spica's fans eagerly await his return to the professional scene, hoping for a triumphant comeback in the Summer Split.
