Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) team Luminosity, which is in partnership with EA, has made waves by parting ways with its triumphant Apex Legends roster on 8th December. Speculations are rife that the organization is eyeing a strategic move to sign former NRG players Sweet and Nafen, setting the stage for a fierce competition with the rumored interest from FaZe Clan.

Formerly known as LG Chivas, Luminosity Gaming's Apex roster, featuring players Luis Enrique "Neazul" Ramos Suarez, Saul Ocampo "YanYa" Plascencia, and Alexis "Jaguares" Martinez, experienced consistent success throughout Year Three of the ALGS, making it to the LAN finals in every tournament. However, their journey with the team, spanning from 2022, came to an abrupt end today.

The immediate reaction from the Apex competitive community was one of disbelief and skepticism. NiceWigg, a prominent former professional player and the host of ALGS B-stream, conveyed his surprise regarding Luminosity's choice to separate from individuals he regarded as the top players globally. He expressed that the decision was remarkably unexpected and warned that it could potentially result in a substantial setback.

This strategic shift by Luminosity is poised to impact the now-free agents negatively. Being dropped by a partnered team implies potential reductions in salaries and resources, which could be a setback compared to their status before becoming free agents.

Beyond the team dynamics, Luminosity's decision raises questions about the accessibility of competitive Apex Legends in Latin America. The removal of South America's Pro League by EA has already shaken the competitive community, leaving the Mexican players from Luminosity's roster without an organization to represent. Latin American fans are keen on ensuring continued support for their pro players in the evolving esports landscape.

Adding complexity to Luminosity's announcement is the anticipated bidding war for the ex-NRG players Sweet and Nafen, who, along with their analyst Sven, are currently free agents. This trio boasts an established reputation in the Apex competitive scene, making them highly sought after.

Following NRG's exit from competitive Apex, rumors abound regarding which organization will secure their talented players. FaZe Clan, in a similar position as Luminosity with no announced roster, is also rumored to be in the running for Sweet. The recent roster upheaval in FaZe Clan, resulting from a poorly communicated vote that ousted players Snip3down and Slurpee, further adds intrigue to the unfolding narrative.
