A God Of War fan shared an old photo of a USB flash drive on social media, which they had found that was still sealed in its original packaging. It resembled one of Kratos' famous Blades of Chaos. Other God of War fans saw the post and became interested in finding out the value of the USB drive as well as whether the owner remembered how they obtained it.
As one of the most popular weapons in video game history, Blades of Chaos are inextricably linked to Kratos as a person, and it was created with the intention of serving Ares, the previous and titular God of War. It was given to Kratos and was chained to his wrists, which permanently burned his skin. Kratos was nevertheless able to dispatch swarms of enemies with the blades. Kratos kept the Blades of Chaos hidden away as a kind of atonement for his actions, even though he became well-known for using other weapons, such as the Leviathan Axe in the Norse saga.
Although fans have been copying the Blades of Chaos for more than 20 years, one God of War fan found a new version of them. A picture of the God of War USB drive was uploaded to the r/GodOfWar subreddit on Reddit by a user going by the name FireCubX. The 8 GB USB drive remained tightly sealed in its tamper-evident packaging. At the time when God of War 3 was released in stores in the early 2010s, a Toronto-based company called HipStreet created the God of War USB drive, and it was licensed by PlayStation.
As per a HipStreet YouTube video, the USB drive was available in 8 GB and 16 GB capacities, and the USB plug was positioned close to the blade's tip. By removing the protective cover, users could then plug the drive into a PC or another suitable device to suit their needs. This game was given a fair amount of licensed merchandise when it was first released. Other fans questioned the original poster in the comments about how many offers they had received for the USB drive.
Even though 8 GB isn't much storage, the value of this God of War Collectible item is demonstrated by the fact that it exists at all. It remains to be seen when Kratos will once more wield the Blades of Chaos, but God of War fans are ready for announcements at The Game Awards on 7th December..
