Hyderabad Hydras announced a few days ago that Numen Esports' Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) player Arshpreet "GiLL" Singh has joined their team for the upcoming BGMI Pro Series (BMPS) Season 2. However, this announcement was soon taken down. Fans were left curious about the sudden change in plans, but recently, Nishant “iFlicks” Murlidharan, the head of esports at Hyderabad Hydras, shed light on the intricate story behind this unexpected twist.
Hyderabad Hydras Couldn't Sign GiLL Because of a BMPS Season 2 Rule
In a recent livestream, iFlicks talk about the story of how Hyderabad Hydras signed GiLL for BMPS Season 2 and what changed the plans. iFlicks revealed that the initial idea sprouted from the dynamic synergy between GiLL and Joker during their stint in Team INS amid the ban period. Recognizing the potential of this duo, iFlicks reached out to Amar, the co-owner of GodLike Esports, to loan GiLL for the upcoming BMPS Season 2. Amar, already aware of GiLL's potential move, readily agreed, allowing Hyderabad Hydras to loan GiLL for the tournament. Hyderabad Hydras registered with GiLL for the BMPS, and the team was confirmed.
However, BMPS unfolded a new rule - a team must retain at least three players from its original roster. This revelation forced a change of plans, as the team realized they couldn't comply with the rule, hindering GiLL's official inclusion in the lineup.
iFlicks expressed his surprise at the rule and acknowledged the importance of such regulations in fostering roster stability. The rule, requiring over 50% retention of the former roster, serves as a thoughtful initiative, prompting both players and organizations to carefully contemplate roster changes.
The entire episode led to the swift deletion of the announcement post on social media. As the BGMI Pro Series Season 2 unfolds, Hyderabad Hydras and their fans find themselves adjusting expectations. However, with the new rule, it will be interesting to see which teams make changed to theor rosters.
