Popular Indian streamer and content creator Gopal "Hastar" Sarda recently shared his thoughts on the uncertainty among esports organizations in India. His comments shed light on the often-uncertain nature of these partnerships and the challenges faced by content creators in the industry.
Hastar Believes Esports Organizations Overstate and Twist Their Words
In a recent live stream, the topic of joining an esports organization was brought up by one of Gopal "Hastar" Sarda's viewers. Responding to this, Hastar stated that he is still discussing the contract with different organizations. However, he added that he was confused because does not get the vibe from gaming organizations anymore. "They twist their words," he added.
One of the key sentiments that Hastar expressed was the uncertainty that looms when considering such partnerships. He mentioned feeling apprehensive when opportunities from esports organizations arise. "I believe that there are a lot of overstaters in Indian esports organizations. They promised that they would do this and that and request us to join the organization on that basis. Whenever I receive an opportunity from an organization to join, I’m not even kidding, I feel scared. My first reaction is always scaring."
Hastar highlighted the volatile nature of the gaming organization scene. Many organizations seek long-term commitments, but the opportunities for content creators can be limited. "The scene of gaming organizations is very unstable. They want a long-term contract, but there are limited opportunities. In the long term, you will have to do something to sustain the creator," he noted.
Brining in brand deals for creators is a crucial factor for content creators, yet not all organizations provide them. "There are only a few organizations that provide brand deals. Even I struggle to get brand deals when I was in big organizations. So I can’t expect anything from smaller organizations."
Lastly, the absence of a stable salary from many esports organizations leaves content creators in a precarious position. "They don’t even provide salary to content creators, so how can we sustain ourselves?"
