Global Esports bids farewell to one of its star players, Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha, marking the end of an era for the organization. Monyet, a young prodigy hailing from Indonesia, has been a standout performer in Global Esports and the Valorant Champions Tour 2023 (VCT). Notably, a few days earlier, GLobal Esports parted ways with its key players Kim "t3xture" Na-ra.
Monyet, at just 18 years old, has emerged as one of the most highly-rated Valorant players in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. His departure is undoubtedly a substantial loss for Global Esports as they embark on a major overhaul in preparation for the VCT 2024 circuit.
This move leaves Global Esports with only two remaining active players: Abhirup "Lightningfast" Choudhury and Ganesh "SkRossi" Gangadhar, who have been part of the organization since 2020, even before it joined the Valorant franchise league. However, the future of these two players with the organization remains uncertain at this juncture.
While Monyet's departure had been a subject of speculation, it has not been confirmed whether he will be joining another team, particularly Paper Rex, another prominent organization in the esports landscape. Monyet embarked on his professional Valorant journey with ONIC Esports in November 2020, eventually joining Global Esports two years later. His stellar performances during the inaugural Valorant Champions Tour franchise model garnered significant attention.
One of Monyet's standout moments was during a match against DRX in the VCT 2023 Pacific League regular season. Playing as Astra, he left spectators in awe with a remarkable 39-kill spree, achieving an astonishing ACS of 327 and setting a new record at the time.
Despite having a valid contract with Global Esports until 2025, it seems that Monyet will not be contributing to the organization's efforts in VCT 2024, raising questions about a possible buyout and rumors of his potential move to Paper Rex.
With Monyet's departure, Global Esports faces a significant rebuilding phase, leaving the team with only two Indian players in its active Valorant roster. Fans are eagerly awaiting news about the organization's plans for the future and how they intend to navigate this period of transition.
