The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) 2023 Championship in Birmingham, U.K., is once again grappling with a recurring challenge: visa issues that have prevented some of the best players from attending. As the championship looms, several teams are forced to find alternative solutions to field competitive rosters.

Teams and Players Facing Visa Issues For ALGS 2023 Championship

In the latest setback, EMEA's Alliance find themselves without key starting players due to visa complications. While both teams will still participate in the event, they will rely on substitute players to fill the voids left by absent teammates.

Alliance's Miron "Effect" Novikov, a prominent figure in the competitive Apex Legends scene, will be notably missing from the event. Stepping in for Effect is Mikkel “Mande” Hestbek, who faces the daunting task of living up to the expectations set by his predecessor.

This isn't the first time visa issues have plagued these teams. Back in February during the Split One Playoffs, Alliance faced similar problems, along with a total of six teams in that event. Despite these challenges, Alliance managed to perform admirably with Mande, gaining experience from past ALGS events.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for Alliance. If the missing players manage to secure their visas before or during the championship, they will be allowed to rejoin their respective starting rosters.

For Alliance, the window of opportunity for Effect's return is open until Friday, August 8. Regardless of who plays, they've already established an agreement to share any prize money between Effect and Mande.

Interestingly, Aurora Gaming also faced visa issues, and they could have missed the championship. However, the organization announced, on 5th September, that all of its players have been cleared for visa.
