After a ten-month long period of suspension, the popular battle royale game by Krafton, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has made a comeback. With BGMI’s re-launch, Krafton aims to address concerns about excessive gaming and its impact on players, particularly minors. In a bid to promote healthy gameplay habits, the game has introduced playtime restrictions for all its users.
BGMI Introduces Three-Hour Time Limit For Minor and Six-Ho+ur For Others
The government of India suspended BGMI for nation data and privacy concerns and its addictive nature. The game has been now re-launched with new measures in place as suggested by the government of India to address these issues. BGMI is currently in a three-month trial period during which the government of India will closely monitor it for any potential threats.
To address and potentially solve its addictive nature, BGMI has implemented a strict playtime restriction policy that limits the amount of time players can spend in the game effective immediately. The restrictions are designed to strike a balance between enjoyment and responsible gaming. Minors, players under the age of 18, will be allowed a maximum playtime of three hours per day. For players who are 18 years or older, the restriction is set at six hours per day.
The decision to implement playtime restrictions comes after growing concerns about the addictive nature of video games, especially among younger players. Several studies have indicated a link between excessive gaming and negative effects on physical and mental health, as well as academic performance. By setting these limits, BGMI hopes to encourage players, particularly minors, to engage in a more balanced lifestyle that includes other activities and responsibilities.
The playtime restriction feature is a significant step towards promoting responsible gaming habits. Players will receive notifications within the game when they approach the designated time limit, reminding them to take breaks and manage their time wisely. Once the maximum playtime has been reached, players will be automatically logged out of the game, preventing them from exceeding their allocated hours.
It is important to note that the playtime restrictions are not intended to penalize players but rather to safeguard their well-being. BGMI aims to create an environment where players can enjoy the game responsibly and maintain a healthy balance in their lives. By setting limits on playtime, the game's developers are taking an active role in promoting player welfare.
