CD Projekt Red's beloved game, The Witcher 3, received another update with Patch 4.03. The update brings in a range of improvements and bug fixes for PC and console platforms. Released in December 2022, the Next-Gen update has been receiving constant attention from developers. Fans of the game will be delighted with the latest update, as it not only enhances the overall experience but also adds new content for fans.
The Witcher 3 Patch 4.03 Highlights
The latest patch offers several improvements for the PC version of the game. Developers have resolved an issue with ray-traced vegetation shadows "popping." Furthermore, they have tackled the issue of black shadows appearing at the edge of objects when ray-traced reflections and shadows were frequently turned on and off. The patch also includes performance improvements to ray-traced global illumination and reflections, as well as support for Intel Xe Super Sampling, which utilizes machine learning to enhance image quality and performance.
For console players, The Witcher 3 Patch 4.03 offers several improvements as well. The Cross Progression pop-up now properly displays which account is logged in, and dark stripes or shadows on Geralt's inventory screen are fixed when Performance Mode is enabled on PlayStation 5. Furthermore, the patch also fixes the issue of performance drops on next-gen consoles using Witcher Senses in Beauclair and Novigrad.
The Witcher 3 Patch 4.03 also includes several visual changes for PC and Next-Gen exclusive. The issue where a grid of light spots could appear on the ground and walls in certain weather conditions with Ray Tracing enabled has also been resolved with this patch. The latest patch has also solved the issues involving the coloration of spider webs when Ray Tracing was enabled and a few texture problems on characters during cutscenes. Furthermore, the patch also fixed a problem in the quest Through Time and Space. In this quest, the mist in the Poisoned Valley had an incorrect pink hue instead of its intended white appearance.
Quests and gameplay for all platforms have also received improvements. The community-made mod Next Gen Script Fixes by Sergeanur is now included in the game. Additionally, the ambient music from the quest In the Eternal Fire's Shadow will no longer continue playing after completion, and players can now auto-apply oils in combat. However, it is now impossible for Geralt to eat or drink underwater, except for potions and decoctions.
The developers have been attentive to fans' feedback and have continued to improve the game even after its initial release. The latest update aims to bring a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
