The Call of Duty franchise is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2023 installment, and rumors are swirling about what gamers can expect from the popular series. According to a report by Insider Gaming, the upcoming title will be called Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, which is a nod to the successful 2011 CoD release.

Modern Warfare 3 Might Bring New Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone Map

The game is reportedly in development by Sledgehammer Games but supplemented by Infinity Ward. Modern Warfare 3 will feature a new campaign, multiplayer, zombies, and a new Warzone map. Fans can expect to get their hands on the game as a standalone title instead of a “premium expansion” to Modern Warfare 2 as some previous reports had suggested.

One of the most exciting features of the upcoming title is the new Warzone map, which will be set in Las Almas, a fictional region and city found in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign. The region is located on the north side of Mexico, near the border of Texas, and is characterized by mostly forest-like areas and mountains. The new map will reportedly debut around a month after Modern Warfare 3's full release.

According to Insider Gaming, the new zombie mode might be a overhauled version of Outbreak from Black Ops Cold War. Sledgehammer Games has also considered making zombies a free-to-play game mode for players to enjoy. This move could be the publisher’s strategy to boost the game's reach and attract more players to the franchise. 

Although the rumors have excited the fans and hyped up the gaming community, it is important to note that the official name and release date for Call of Duty 2023 have not yet been officially confirmed by Activision. However, multiple reports suggest that the game is set to release on 10th November this year.
