True Rippers emerged victorious in a thrilling matchup against Gods Reign Esports in the Valorant Challengers League (VCL) 2023: South Asia (SA) Split 2, defeating it 2-1 in a nail-biting series. The win was a sweet revenge for True Rippers, who had previously lost to Gods Reign twice in VCL Split 1. The match was filled with exciting moments, with both teams putting up a great fight and winning rounds back and forth.
VCL SA Split 2: True Rippers vs Gods Reign Recap
The map veto for the match resulted in God's Reign Esports banning Bind and True Rippers banning Pearl. Ascent and Split were the first two maps chosen by the teams, respectively. Ascent and Fracture were banned, leaving Haven as the decider map.
Map No. 1: Lotus
The first map Lotus got off to a great start for True Rippers, who secured a flawless pistol round, followed by the anti-eco round. However, God’s Reign did not fall short in the third round and won the round. Despite this setback, True Rippers managed to equalize the score at 3-3 by the sixth round. The teams went back and forth until the half ended with True Rippers in the lead at 5-7. In the second half, True Rippers put forth an incredible performance. The team did not lose a single round and won the map with a 13-7 scoreline.
Map No. 2: Split
True Rippers continued its dominance in the second map, winning the pistol round and the anti-eco round, as well as the bonus round in the first half. Following this, the team maintained its consistency and managed to close the first half with a lead of 8-4. However, Gods Reign made a comeback in the second half and managed to tie the scoreline at 12-12. In the overtime, Gods Reign maintained its consistency and won two consecutive rounds with confidence, closing the map with a 14-12 scoreline.
Map No. 3: Haven
The third map was a closely contested affair, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for victory. True Rippers were trailing 3-9 at one point, but they managed to mount an impressive comeback to equalize the score at 11-11, thanks to some crucial plays by Aryu and Kaizen. True Rippers ultimately secured the win in the 23rd round, with a ninja defuse of the spike, bringing the final score to 13-11 in their favor.
