Popular Indian esports organization GodLike Esports has secured its maiden victory with its newest star-studded roster after defeating Medal Esports in the Valorant Challengers League (VCL) 2023: South Asia (SA) Split 2 tournament. The team put forth an incredible performance and defeated Medal Esports in a dominating fashion with a scoreline of 2-0. The team showed commendable performance throughout the match.
VCL SA Split 2: GodLike Esports vs Medal Esports Recap
In the map veto process, Medal Esports banned Bind and GodLike Esports banned Split. Following this, Medal Esports picked Lotus, whereas GodLike Esports picked Ascent. The teams then banned Fracture and Haven, making Pearl the decider map for the match.
Map No. 1 - Lotus
The first map Loctus started with Medal Esports winning the first pistol and the following anti-eco round. However, GodLike Esports quickly turned the tables by winning its buy round, as well as the fourth round. The team continued its dominance by winning eight consecutive rounds, before Medal Esports was finally able to break GodLike Esports’ momentum in11th round. Despite the setback, GodLike Esports managed to build a massive 9-3 lead.
In the second half, Medal Esports started off by winning the pistol round and the following anti-eco round. However, GodLike Esports quickly regained its composure, winning its full buy round and the next round to extend its lead to 11-5. The team took an easy win with a final scoreline of 13-7.
Map No. 2 - Lotus
On the second map Ascent, Medal Esports again won the pistol round, and three rounds following that. GodLike Esports finally secured its first round win in the fifth round, resulting in a scoreline of Medal 4-1 GodLike. GodLike Esports then went on to win eight rounds in a row to end the half with a comfortable 8-4 lead.
The second half saw GodLike Esports dominate once again. The team won the pistol round and went on to win the anti-eco and bonus rounds. Although Medal Esports managed to win the 17th round, GodLike Esports closed out the match with a final score of 13-5, with GodLike Esports Tejas "Rexy" Kotian being the match MVP (most valuable player) with a KDA of 36/21/18 on Breach and Sova in two maps.
GodLike Esports boasts a strong team, which has the potential to make its mark in the VCL SA Split 2. However, the team was struggling to perform up to the mark. Notably, GodLike Esports did not win a single map in VCL SA SPlit 2. However, with its first win secured, the team will be more confident in the coming matches and fans can expect an improved performance from it. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the team.
