Aster Army has defeated Reckoning Esport in the VALORANT Challengers (VCL) 2023: South Asia Split 1 Lower Bracket Quarterfinals, eliminating the team from the tournament. Although Reckoning Esport put up a good fight, Aster Army showed an exceptional performance and emerged victorious with a close 2-1 scoreline.
Aster Army vs Reckoning Esports VCL SA Split 1 Lower Bracket Quarterfinals Recap
In the map veto process, Aster Army banned Fracture, and Reckoning Esports banned Split. Following this, Aster Army selected Ascent, while Reckoning selected Lotus. Pearl and Icebox were banned, and the final map played was Haven.
Map 1 - Ascent Recap:
In the first map Ascent, Aster Army won the pistol round, where DominiK secured three kills. Aster Army won the anti-eco round as well, but it was a close call as it ended with a 1v1 situation. Aster Army put on an incredible performance and won eight consecutive rounds. However, following this, Reckoning Esports made a comeback and won four consecutive rounds, leading to a scoreline of RGE 8-4 AA in the first half.
Reckoning Esports continued their winning momentum into the second half by winning the pistol round and the anti-eco round. However, Aster Army broke Reckoning Esports’ streak in the bonus round. After a few back and forth wins, the score equalized at 11-11, eventually leading to an overtime.
After three overtimes, Aster Army managed to win the match with a scoreline of 16-14 despite Reckoning Esports’ commendable comeback.
Map 2 - Lotus Recap:
On the second map Lotis, Aster Army continued its winning momentum by winning the pistol round, but Reckoning Esports managed to convert the eco round into a win. After to-and-fro wins and losses, the first half ended with a scoreline of RGE 7-5 AA.
Reckoning Esports won the second pistol round, and the following round as well. Reckoning Esports put forth a commendable performance and finished the map with a scoreline of 13-6, only losing one round in their attacking side.
Map 3 - Haven Recap:
The third and the final map Haven started with Reckoning Esports winning the pistol round. However, Aster Army managed to win the second round with a force buy. Aster Army continued its momentum and closed the half with a scoreline of AA 8-4 RGE.
Reckoning Esports won the pistol round as well as the bonus round in the second half. However, the team went on to lose the next three consecutive rounds, leading to a scoreline of AA led 12-6. Following this, Reckoning Esports stepped up and managed to secure a scoreline of RGE 9-12 AA before Aster Army won the match. Although Reckoning Esportslost, Deadly10 was named MVP with a KDA of 73/46/17 in three maps.
Reckoning Esports’ loss led to its elimination from the tournament, making it the first team to exit the Playoffs of VCL SA Split 1. Aster Army will now play against the winners of the match between God’s Reign and Velocity Gaming.
