The creator of the Silent Hill 2 remake has hinted that there may be other games in the franchise. Even though the Silent Hill series is one of the most adored game series, it has long been marginalized. The series had a rather significant dip in quality in the late 2000s, but Hideo Kojima's radical rethinking of the franchise came very close to saving it. Sadly, we aren't allowed to enjoy ourselves as gamers, and everything that would really rock our world is either cancelled or taken away from us. The Silent Hill franchise essentially disappeared for over a decade after Kojima's game was shelved.
We're about to experience a Silent Hill onslaught. Not one, not two, not three, but four new Silent Hill games are in development with multiple different developers, Konami revealed last year. Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake is one of these games. With well-known horror games like Layers of Fear and Blair Witch, among others, the developer has become more well-known in recent years. It now has the difficult task of faithfully recreating one of the greatest horror stories in video games.
Bloober Team informed that it isn't ruling out the possibility of making even more Silent Hill games despite this challenging task. Konami's CEO Piotr Babieno stated that the company is open to further discussions with Bloober Team and that he would never rule out the development of additional Silent Hill games, but the studio is presently focused on the remake and another project with Private Division.
Aside from what Bloober Team is doing, we currently have a lot more Silent Hill to look forward to. Before fans have had an opportunity to assess whether the developer has done the game justice, it's probably not a good idea to sign Bloober Team up for more Silent Hill. In any case, Konami seems to be craving a lot more Silent Hill.
