The digital version of Resident Evil 4 Remake will be purchased by many players, but the most devoted followers have presumably already reserved their $250 collector's editions, which include a statue of Leon holding a shotgun and looking exhausted. Although the collector's editions were exclusive to GameStop, the business announced on Tuesday that all in-store pre-orders had been cancelled. With the thought of having to call their most devoted customers and deliver the terrible news, employees are now as worn out as Leon.

The reveal of Resident Evil 4 Collector's Edition

In the latter half of 2021, Capcom revealed the Resident Evil 4 Collector's Edition. The package includes a variety of extras and bonuses, such as a Leon Kennedy figurine, art book, poster, DLC code, and the game's soundtrack. Even though it costs a whopping $249.99, there are many collectors out there who would like to have the opportunity to purchase this unique RE4 set. It appears that there was a last-minute change, though.

Wario64’s recent tweet regarding the issue

Wario64, a Twitter user, claims that GameStop has cancelled pre-orders for the Collector's Edition of the Resident Evil 4 remake in-store. This information was obtained from a memo that states that orders for these editions "won't arrive in stores" and won't be filled. A second memo stated that these cancellations affected all in-store appointments as well as certain fully-paid online reservations. The customer can opt to switch their reservation to another game, receive the amount paid as shop credit, or receive a complete refund, according to a subsequent tweet from Wario64. As things progress, other clients are watching their online reservations to see what happens.

According to an updated memo from GameStop, cancelled RE4 CEs includes "all Store reservations as well as a portion of fully paid online reservations"

Customers with an affected CE reservation can roll their reservation to standard edition with a $10 discount

User RuleTime responded to Wario64's tweet by claiming that GameStop staff customer support had informed him that orders being cancelled were the result of a system error. If this is the case, anyone who placed an order in hopes of receiving the Collector's Edition, but had it cancelled might be able to do so again if there is still stock available online. It would be awful if fans couldn't purchase this edition of RE4, especially considering that it's anticipated to be one of the year's most anticipated horror releases.

Despite the enthusiasm for the game, this is not the first time fans have received unfavourable news. A recent rumour claimed that the Resident Evil 4 remake would put special edition features behind locked doors. Fans may be frustrated that some content is being withheld unless they pay the extra money, but it is unlikely that this will have an impact on the base game's plot.
