Several Destiny 2 players have already voiced their displeasure with Bungie's handling of the Lightfall DLC, even going so far as to compile a detailed list of problems they have with the brand-new piece of content. While Lightfall was one of the most anticipated DLCs the series has ever seen, it wasn't universally agreed upon that it would bring both new content and much-needed quality-of-life enhancements.

While Destiny 2 has undoubtedly experienced its share of highs and lows over the years, the Witch Queen DLC's release was universally hailed as a new high for the series. Naturally, this also prepared the ground for the Lightfall expansion, but a sizable portion of the game's fan base isn't impressed with what it has experienced thus far.

Even though Destiny 2 is breaking records now that Lightfall has opened, Redditor LapisStrike11 believes that Bungie still has a long way to go. They liked the new Strand subclass and the campaign's main gameplay cycle, but they thought the tale was hurried and "goofy," failing to adequately explain some of the circumstances surrounding the recently discovered Neomuna civilisation. Another clear point of dispute is the absence of an explanation for why Neomuna never aided Earth during the Red War. With over 1,200 total upvotes and an upvote ratio of over 95%, LapisStrike11's opinion on Lightfall is already quite well-liked on the Destiny subreddit, indicating that many others share their criticism of the DLC.

LapisStrike11's post may be completely irrelevant or extremely troublesome, depending on how important one thinks Destiny's narrative is, given the supplied list of faults is now practically impossible to remedy due to the release of the Expansion. While the majority of players were concerned about technical difficulties, such as the possibility of Destiny 2 Strand synergy problems, these could've been fixed in subsequent updates. But it's quite another thing to alter the tone of an entire expansion pack's worth of narrative growth.

It's also important to note that the most recent batch of Destiny 2 datamines has exposed an entire arsenal of Taken-infested weapons, likely to be released alongside Season of the Deep. Bungie may end up making up for Lightfall's occasionally silly tone with future content releases because Taken-based storylines are typically quite bleak.
