The Evil Within franchise's game director and creator of Tango Gameworks, Shinji Mikami, has announced his departure from the firm after 12 years. Early this morning, Bethesda tweeted a confirmation of the information.
Shinji Mikami is a well-known figure in the video game business. He is best known for launching the hugely successful Resident Evil series in 1996, which helped popularize the survival horror subgenre and served as the model for several subsequent games in the same vein. He directed Resident Evil 4 and handled other projects throughout his tenure at Capcom. He also served as executive producer for Devil May Cry. After leaving Capcom, Mikami went on to work for PlatinumGames, where he oversaw the creation of the video game Vanquish. Later, Mikami struck out on his own and founded Tango Gameworks, which produced the critically acclaimed rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush as well as The Evil Within series.

Mikami began his career at Capcom, where he worked on titles including the Resident Evil series, Ace Attorney, and the cult favorite beat'em's up God Hand. In order to direct the influential, if somewhat forgotten, third-person action shooter Vanquish, Mikami left the development in 2006 and went to work at PlatinumGames. Tango Gameworks, which Mikami established in 2010, was almost instantly acquired by ZeniMax Media, bringing Tango within the huge Bethesda family.
Additionally, Hi-Fi Rush became one of Bethesda's and Xbox's most popular recent releases, and the game generated a lot of "good momentum for the business and Tango," according to Vaughn's email. This is true because Hi-Fi Rush, an instant classic in the eyes of many, enjoyed phenomenal success upon its initial release, rocketing to the top of both Steam and Xbox Game Pass. In terms of sales, it even outperformed the fantasy action game Forspoken, which had a lot of marketing and support. While it is unknown where Shinji Mikami will travel to next on his voyage, the guy himself is supported by an incredible library of games. His effect is seen throughout the industry and is still felt, particularly now that Resident Evil 4 is getting its own remake. Mikami left a fantastic legacy with Tango Gameworks.
