Speedrunner who completed the game’s narrative in under 20 minutes has sparked criticism from some of the developers who worked on The Forest, the surprise hit survival horror game in which players search for their virtual son following a plane disaster. Many games are appropriate for speedrunning for anyone interested in taking on a similar task. It takes a lot of effort, talent, and dedication to become a runner, yet many have gone on to become well-known in their communities and set or break world records.

The Indie series from Endnight Games, particularly in the horror community, is currently a hot topic because the sequel Sons of the Forest will be available for early access on February 23. After an early access launch in 2014, the original was published in 2018, during the height of the survival game craze. The story and the eerie cannibalistic tribes it included made it a pretty unsettling entry in the genre, and the construction and crafting features gave players something to do as they looked for their missing child.

Evan Haley, the main designer for Endnight, and Rod Green, the project director for Sons of the Forest, provide commentary on the speedrun. Both are amazed at how rapidly Akaya can go through the jungle, gathering the necessary things, finding the caverns, and skirting dangers to reach their son. Obviously, the video contains significant tale spoilers for anyone who haven’t finished the game.

Being able to reach the conclusion so quickly is an amazing achievement, especially given the open-world setting of the game. Getting through those first few nights in The Forest can be challenging. The ferocious cannibals who live there will force players to use all of their cunnings in order to survive each day while also acquiring food and supplies. The Forest gained popularity among players for its fantastic multiplayer horror experience. There will probably be fresh interest in the series now that Sons of the Forest is almost out, and perhaps some readers will be eager to revisit the first book to see if they can finish it more quickly than Akaya did.
