The Sniffer, a new Minecraft creature that will be included in the upcoming 1.20 update, has received more information from Mojang. The newest information release from the devs comes after the Sniffer won the Minecraft Live 2022 Mob Vote.

Mob Vote, as the name indicates, is an annual occasion that lets the community choose which creature will be added to all versions of Minecraft that are currently supported. In the most recent instance of this phenomenon, the Sniffer managed to defeat the Tuff Golem and the Rascal by garnering over 55% of fan votes, more than twice the number of the Rascal who came in second.

The Sniffer's appeal is largely due to the fact that it is actually a Minecraft farming overhaul disguising itself as a mob; however, according to a recent release from Mojang, the creature will launch lacking some crucial capabilities and behaviours. The developer is assuring players that this will only apply to "earliest snapshots" of the game, and that the stable 1.20 build will continue to include a fully functional version of the mob revealed at Minecraft Live 2022. Until the developers fix any potential flaws brought on by the new content drop, the Sniffer will first be introduced to the game's Creative Mode.

The Survival Mode form of the Sniffer will have to be created from Sniffer eggs that have a possibility of hatching in Suspicious Sand because it is an old mob that will be included in a Minecraft update that focuses on archaeology. Mojang has said that the upcoming update's new block type might potentially include other things like pottery shards. Finding one that produces an egg will only fulfil a portion of the conditions for domesticating a Sniffer because the said embryo must first be developed into a Snifflet before it can develop into a pig-like animal.

Mojang urged fans to keep an eye out for early-access patches as it promised more information about the upcoming Minecraft 1.20 update after announcing its Sniffer distribution plans. Without a doubt, the new mob is an eagerly anticipated addition to the popular sandbox game, but Minecraft Live 2022's resounding victory for the Sniffer Mob Vote has raised concerns over whether the annual community event is getting too formulaic.
