During its Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, Nintendo unveiled a fresh trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The updated appearance is in advance of the game's May release on Nintendo Switch. You may have noticed that Tears of the Kingdom costs $10 more than the average pricing for a first-party Nintendo game and is currently available for pre-order for $69.99.

A mysterious, menacing voice (Ganondorf? ), at the start, commands his "servants" to destroy the kingdom of Hyrule and its friends. Seems awful, especially in light of images showing a crimson moon towering over the landscape; demonic powers seem to be resuming their activities.

The brooding trailer depicts a dark, thunderous landscape populated with familiar Hyrulean creatures. The world is filled with scenes of destruction as Hyrule Castle burns to the ground and a monster that resembles Ganon rises. Additionally, Zelda makes a mystery request at the end of the trailer: "Please, lend him your power."

A unique collector's edition of the game will also be available at launch. It will cost $129.99 and come with extras including a Steelbook case, a concept art book, and a physical copy of the game. Nintendo is also launching a new Link amiibo inspired by the game, which will unlock exclusive things in-game, if expensive collector's items aren't your thing.

Nintendo first introduced the official follow-up to Breath of the Wild back in June 2019, but until Wednesday, the game remained mainly cloaked in secrecy. A few new time-related powers were demonstrated in earlier videos, and it was made apparent that the game will have aerial combat. However, many specifics were avoided.

After being postponed from 2022, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will now be available for the Nintendo Switch on May 12. Producer of the Zelda series Eiji Aonuma addressed the delay in a video, saying, that to make this game's experience something extraordinary, the entire production team is continuing to work relentlessly on this game, so please wait a little longer. We won't have to wait long, thank goodness.
