GTA Online has its fair share of trolls and griefers who like interfering with other players' games, just like any enormously successful online game does. The majority of the time, supporters must simply grin and bear it while making an effort to avoid the more problematic and obnoxious players. One victim of a GTA Online griefer, however, was able to display a small amount of happiness following their griefing after contacting Rockstar Support and receiving a sizable amount of in-game money.

Rockstar pays the victim of GTA Online trolling.

On the GTA Online subreddit, member __Username Not Found posted a message to the person who grieved them and wrecked a sale task they were attempting to complete. The message was followed by an email from Rockstar Support and the caption "To the random troll who blew up my cargo during the sell mission and immediately left the game (he was on my team)".

Even though "other players can demolish the boxes as per game design," they offered a "one-time accommodation" for the occurrence and added a staggering GTA$ 1,000,000 to their account in the email. In less than 24 hours, the post received over 6,700 upvotes as many gamers expressed shock that Rockstar Support had actually paid them for the incident. Other players weren't convinced that the email was important enough for Rockstar Support to respond, but the original poster went into further detail in the replies.

They said, "I allowed 2 random players to join my SecuroServ and started a cargo sell mission, one of them sticky-bombed the boat until it blew up. Then immediately quit the game". Do they continue by saying that since the incident occurred a few nights ago, it is why Rockstar Support was able to contact them? They spent the entire night stocking up; it was worth slightly more than $1 million. They knew it was a requirement for the game, but they're glad Rockstar made them feel better about it. While some might question the need for in-game compensation in the wake of a case of this kind of griefing, it's always encouraging to see creators go above and beyond to support gamers.
