OTK co-owner Thomas Chance "Sodapoppin" Morris stated during a recent stream that this year's TwitchCon in San Diego let him realize how Twitch's user base has evolved since he first joined the site. Twitch is no longer a game website, and that's okay, he said. The streamer claimed that the conference was when people really began to notice the dramatic change in demographics. He didn't appear to have an issue with it necessarily, but he did express his worries about several aspects of the move.

Since 2012, Sodapoppin has used Twitch. He has been to numerous TwitchCons throughout the years and has observed changes. The purple platform is still dominated by gaming, but new forms of content creation, such as Just Chatting, and reaction-based streams, have exploded recently. Over the years, massive audiences have also tuned in to lifestyle channels and internet programs.

The 28-year-old then recalled a period when, no matter how obscure, he could name every streamer at TwitchCon. He said that but as he thought about TwitchCon, he realized that he knew every single person there. If someone had 200 watchers, I knew them. this shows how small and tightly knit the community is.

He also stated: "Every year that TwitchCon has happened, you kind of see the community it itself just changing slowly."

The streaming community will evolve over time, and that is only natural. There will undoubtedly be other types of content producers ascending to the top of the platform's streaming statistics now that gaming streams are probably taking a backseat.
