This morning, an important declaration has been made by Atlus on Twitter, with both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden coming to modern consoles in the coming year 2023. The definitive versions of these RPGs have their origin on the PlayStation Portable and Vita, but they will soon arrive for modern consoles in order to improve accessibility. 

The announcement also included Game Pass along with other platforms. Here are the things available for the upcoming Atlus titles. 

At first, it was known that Atlus and SEGA would bring classic titles to modern consoles, as this was announced during summer. Only the release date for P5 Royal was known then.  

The surprise tweet by Atlus West has now confirmed that Persona 3 and 4’s portable releases will arrive on multiple platforms in January 2023 and according to Atlus, the confirmed date is January 19, 2023. 

P3P was a remake of the PlayStation 2 version where the players were allowed to choose the gender of the protagonist. This also opened the way for new routes and scenarios for the story too. The PSP version did not have the Japanese-exclusive “Episode Aegis”. 

It is still uncertain whether that will be a part of this release, or if it will be a faithful port of the PSP/Vita release of the game. P4G is already on PC and is now making its way to more modern consoles. In general, navigation is easier in P3P, and the battle system is similar to Persona 4. 

Players can take part in both part-time jobs and in the PSP version of the game. However, it is devoid of the anime cutscenes from the original game. It is not yet known if these will be added in the upcoming January release or not.  

It is quite interesting to know that a few changes have been introduced along with Persona 4 Golden. A new Bad Ending was added by learning the identity of the killer, but not telling your friends. Two events were also added namely Halloween and Skiing Trip. Fulfilling the requirements for the Good Ending, the time for Social Links and Events will extend through February 14, 2012. 

After the completion of the Hollow Forest dungeon, the epilog can also be unlocked. A few gameplay adjustments as well as new Social Links namely Marie and Tohru Adachi were also added. 

Both games will arrive on January 19, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. On top of that, the two titles will be Day One releases on the Xbox Game Pass.
