Following a string of cyber-crimes against Rockstar Games and Uber – resulting in a substantial GTA 6 leak – London police have confirmed the arrest of a 17-year-old suspected to be involved in the hack. 

In response to a series of cyberattacks on Rockstar Games and Uber, which led to a significant GTA 6 leak, London police have confirmed the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect. 

On Sunday, September 18, more than 90 videos and pictures with in-depth footage of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 video game from Rockstar Games leaked online. Players have been anticipating this game's release for almost ten years in the renowned Grand Theft Auto franchise. However, the hacker had an impact on more than just Rockstar Games. The well-known ride-sharing company has also been the target of the cybercriminal, according to an update from Uber Newsroom. The report stated that the FBI was investigating and that they believed the perpetrator belonged to the hacker collective Lupsus$. Breached, a well-known hacker community, claimed it was a young person going by the alias "White." 

The City of London Police announced that they had detained a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking on the morning of September 23. The National Crime Agency helped the investigation that led to the arrest. Although the Rockstar Games hack was not specifically mentioned by the London Police, source Matthew Keys said that the arrest was "connected to intrusion on Rockstar Games and perhaps Uber Technologies." 

The suspect is still in police custody as of this writing. After being detained earlier this year for similar offenses, "White" allegedly received only "a slap on the wrist" and no other punishment. The culprit in the GTA 6 breach has also been identified online as Lapsus$, the organization behind cyberattacks against Samsung, Nvidia, Microsoft, Cisco, and Okta.
